Job summary

MARATHON STAFFING GROUP in Bowling Green, VA is seeking General Labor Associates for entry-level roles in a sawmill environment. You will sort, grade, and stack lumber, supporting safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Sort and grade lumber according to size, quality, and production standards.
  • Stack lumber safely and remove damaged or defective materials.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Help maintain a steady flow of materials throughout production.
  • Report quality, equipment, or safety concerns to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and safe equipment practices.
  • Work closely with machine operators, forklift drivers, and production team members.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support daily sawmill operations.

NOW HIRING General Labor Associates - Great Entry-Level Opportunity in Bowling Green, VA!

Start or continue your manufacturing career with a growing lumber production team! As a General Laborer / Lumber Grader & Stacker, you'll help sort, grade, and stack lumber in a dynamic sawmill environment while supporting safe and efficient operations.

This is an entry-level opportunity with paid training and room to grow. Employees who demonstrate strong attendance, safety awareness, and a solid work ethic may have the opportunity to advance into Sawmill Operator and other production roles.

Great opportunity for anyone with experience in or interested in Manufacturing, Production, Shipping, Warehouse, Light Industrial, Assembly, and other similar supporting positions.

Schedule:

This is a full-time position. Overtime, weekends, and schedule flexibility may be required based on production needs.

Key Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude or interest in learning sawmill equipment operation.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This position works in an industrial sawmill environment with exposure to noise, sawdust, moving equipment, lumber, forklifts, weather conditions, and varying temperatures. The employee may be required to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, bend, twist, push, pull, reach, and perform repetitive motions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Please note - Team members must be able to commute to Bowling Green, VA. Previous experience is not required, but is a plus. Must be able to work 10-12 hours per day, do manual labor, and lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.
