Job summary

RK&K is seeking an Engineer I to join our Water/Wastewater team in Roanoke or Blacksburg, VA. You will perform design and project delivery for water and wastewater facilities and systems, working with a mentorship-minded team dedicated to municipal clients.

The role requires a Civil/Environmental Engineering degree and 0–2 years’ experience, strong writing and communication skills, and familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit. Opportunities to grow across projects are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Zero to two years of experience in the study, design, and construction administration of water and wastewater facilities and conveyance infrastructure.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for water and wastewater pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
• Conduct technical evaluations to support planning and design related to water and wastewater systems.
• Assist with the preparation and review of technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Assist with project management activities for select tasks and develop project management skills for expanded responsibilities.
• Support field testing and investigations when required.
• Support construction projects with office engineering services (submittal review, contract document interpretation, requests for information, correspondence, change requests, and change orders).
• Communicate effectively and coordinate with the project team including other disciplines.
