Job summary

The City of Azle is hiring a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I (training-level) to help run and maintain our wastewater treatment operations in compliance with state requirements. You will learn under a licensed operator and develop skills to advance within the Public Services team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Class D Wastewater Operator License within the first year of employment.
• Ability to obtain a Texas Class C Wastewater Operator License before the end of the second year of employment.
• Ability to work independently after training.
• Wastewater-related experience is helpful but not required for entry-level Operator I.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform routine water quality testing throughout the treatment process.
• Record and maintain accurate operational information and test results.
• Monitor treatment processes and ensure proper chemical feeding.
• Learn to recognize and respond to equipment or operational issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
• Monitor filters and perform backwashing.
• Operate tractors, mowers, and other equipment as needed.
• Assist in maintaining plant, grounds, and equipment in good condition.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers, supervisors, customers and the public.
