Job summary

HECO is seeking candidates for an entry-level vibration data collector role. No vibration-analysis experience is required; you will learn to collect condition-monitoring data and help customers improve motor, pump, gearbox, and other rotating equipment health.

Responsibilities include field data collection, following routes, identifying basic issues, documenting observations, and supporting senior analysts. A strong safety mindset and willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical school, apprenticeship, military, or industrial exposure helpful but not required but heavily sought after.
• Military experience is a plus but not required; equivalent civilian experience valued.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn mobile data collection and reporting.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions, labels, safety procedures, and routes.
• Dependability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer facilities to safely collect vibration and other condition-monitoring data.
• Follow established routes and procedures to gather accurate, repeatable machine data.
• Learn to identify basic signs of bearing, alignment, balance, loosening, and other rotating equipment issues.
• Document equipment condition, observations, and completed work clearly and on time.
• Assist experienced analysts with troubleshooting, testing, analysis, and customer interactions.
• Communicate professionally with customer maintenance, engineering, and operations.
• Complete assigned technical training and work toward ISO/ASNT Category I vibration.
