Job summary

HII’s Mission Technologies division is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I to join the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) team in Crane, Indiana. Recent graduates will apply knowledge of unmanned aircraft systems, robotics, or autonomy while supporting projects and gaining hands-on experience under experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• 0–1 year of experience with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in systems engineering or aerospace engineering.
• Foundational knowledge of UAS platforms, sensors, avionics, autonomy, or related technologies.
• Internships, co-ops, senior design projects, or hands-on work involving UAS, robotics, or autonomous technologies.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support engineering activities related to UAS development, integration, testing, and evaluation.
• Assist with technical data collection, organization, and analysis.
• Participate in system level testing, troubleshooting, and documentation efforts.
• Work with senior engineers to contribute to design improvements and project execution.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and updates for internal stakeholders.
• Follow established engineering processes, standards, and safety requirements.
