Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience with advanced analytics in either an academic or professional setting.
• Master's degree in Transportation Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent discipline; or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Mine and analyze structured and unstructured data to identify patterns, trends, and risk factors.
• Apply statistical and machine-learning methods to transportation safety and planning problems.
• Evaluate model fit and predictive performance and document methods and results for reproducibility.
• Identify and recommend new data applications and data collection opportunities.
• Extract and clean data from databases, APIs, spreadsheets, and text files for analysis.
• Use Python, R, SQL to automate data preparation, analysis, model execution, and reporting.
• Apply crash prediction, Safety Performance Function development, before-and-after evaluation, systemic safety screening, risk scoring, and prioritization.
• Prepare and distribute analytical findings with effective visualizations, reports, and presentations.
• Collaborate with managers and senior data scientists to receive guidance on methods and interpretation.
• Participate in professional development aligned with career goals.
