Job summary

VHB in Charlotte (and Metro DC offices) seeks an Entry Level Transportation Safety Analyst to join a team of transportation planners and traffic safety engineers. This role focuses on data-driven safety studies, statistical analysis, and creating visualizations to support state DOTs and local governments.

Ideal candidates have a master’s degree or 0-2 years of experience, enjoy Python, R, SQL, and BI tools, and can communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience with advanced analytics in academic or professional settings.
• Master's degree in Transportation Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent discipline.

Responsibilities

• Mine and analyze structured and unstructured data to identify patterns and risk factors.
• Apply statistical and ML methods to transportation safety and planning problems.
• Evaluate model fit, performance, and uncertainty with appropriate validation techniques.
• Extract data from databases, APIs, spreadsheets, and text files; clean and link data from multiple sources.
• Develop reusable code and maintain technical documentation in Python, R, and SQL.
