Job summary

PG&E in Oakland is seeking an entry‑level Associate Transmission Planning Engineer for its hybrid work model within the Transmission Planning group. The role supports basecase preparation, system studies, and project implementation under supervision, aligning with NERC/WECC standards and regulatory filings.

The position offers exposure to multi‑year planning, CAISO processes, and coordination with internal departments while serving PG&E’s transmission expansion objectives within the service

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or graduating with a BSEE by December 2026.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate.
• Experience in power engineering, transmission planning and/or operations is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Basecase Preparation: support basecase creation, data coordination, load forecast, basecase assumptions, WECC/basecase development, generator testing, and tool development.
• Transmission System Studies: perform planning studies, coordinate requirements, analyze reliability indices, develop Annual Transmission Planning Assessment and Expansion Plan, submit CAISO proposals, and present technical material.
• Project Implementation: participate in project scope, approvals, and implementation tracking; ensure documentation of final ratings and models.
• Compliance and Regulatory: interface with regulators, support filings (FERC/NERC/WECC/CAISO), and regulatory audits.
