Job summary

BHMG Engineers, Inc. seeks an Associate Engineer for Transmission Line design to support construction drawing sets and learn design tools under close supervision. This entry-level role is ideal for a new graduate starting a career in utility engineering.

You will contribute to line design, field data collection, permits, and coordination with drafters and engineers in a collaborative team across St. Louis, Bettendorf, and Collinsville.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ABET-accredited engineering discipline required.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred; FE/EIT preferred or in progress.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes.

Responsibilities

• Assist with transmission line design using PLS-CADD and related tools.
• Support structure spotting, clearance checks, and basic load/tension calculations.
• Prepare drawings, bills of material, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with drafters to provide markups and updates to designs.
• Participate in field visits for data collection and construction support.
• Use survey and real estate data for accurate line design and pole placement.
• Identify required permits and assist with permit applications.
• Perform basic design analysis per NESC/RUS and client standards.
• Learn underbuild design requirements and assist coordination.
• Support team to meet project objectives, schedules, and quality.
