Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (OTS) seeks a tooling designer to create tools, dies, gauges and fixtures for manufacturing and experiments. You will consult with plant personnel to capture requirements and ensure tooling meets quality and performance standards.

The role emphasizes CAD design, cost estimation, and potential procurement tasks, with travel up to 25% to support cross-site collaboration and tooling validation.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 0-3 years' experience.
• Engineering degree required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Designs and develops tools and machinery used to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications.
• Develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production.
• Utilizes CAD to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools.
• Estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools.
• May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools.
