• If employed in Virginia, must be registered with the Virginia Board of Medicine.

Responsibilities

• Performs surgical hand scrub, gowning, and gloving per policy.
• Functions as first or second assist on assigned cases.
• Maintains sterile field and checks instruments for proper function.
• Assists with sponge, sharps, and instrument counts per policy.
• Communicates with the circulating nurse about instrument issues and sterility.
