AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer in Germantown, MD. Join the East Region Dams Practice to support dam safety projects, provide design, analysis, inspection and regulatory compliance across the East region.

You will progress toward professional licensure, perform field observations, prepare AutoCAD drawings, and contribute to project management while building a career with a global infrastructure leader.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam completed or able to complete within 12 months of hire.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required and relocation sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to dam project managers on design, analysis, inspection and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform dam analysis and design including stability and strength of concrete dams and appurtenant structures.
  • Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects.
  • Prepare structural details and AutoCAD drawings.
  • Conduct field observations and site visits for dam safety inspections and construction oversight.
  • Progress toward greater responsibility, including task and project management and PE certification.

AECOM is looking for an Entry-Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer to work as part of our East Region Dams Practice located in our Germantown, Maryland office as an Entry Level Structural Dam Safety Engineer. This position will support a variety Dam Safety Engineering projects across the East Region. The successful candidate will join theENR consistently ranked #1 Dams and Reservoirs firmand have access to exciting career advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical support to dam project managers, including design, analysis, inspection, construction observation, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of dams.
  • Perform dam analysis and design such as structural stability and strength analysis of concrete dams and appurtenant structures (spillways, outlet works, and other site civil structures).
  • Prepare structural evaluation reports, drawings, and specifications for dam projects.
  • Prepare structural details and drawings in AutoCAD.
  • Conduct field observations and site visits for dam safety inspections and dam construction oversight.
  • Progression toward greater responsibility, including task and project management and certification as a professional engineer.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship experience related to dams and hydraulic structures.
  • Ability and desire to occasionally travel to project sites, both local and remote.
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility.
  • Resourceful, highly organized professional with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Effective time-management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong desire to learn along with professional drive.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam or ability to complete within 12-months of hire.
  • Proven coursework and/or background in structural engineering including reinforced concrete design, statics, and mechanics of materials.
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available for this position.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
