Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center is seeking an entry-level Medical Supply Technician in Sterile Processing Service. The incumbent will decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, disinfect, sterilize and transport reusable medical devices to support hospital operations.

The position emphasizes growth from entry-level GS-03 to higher levels with training in sterile processing and adherence to safety standards. Shift includes 12:00pm–8:30pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of sterilization and cleaning equipment.
• English language proficiency in speaking and writing.
• Demonstrated KSAs for sterile processing in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, prepare and sterilize or high-level disinfect complex surgical equipment.
• Troubleshoot reprocessing equipment and escalate as needed.
• Maintain Censi-Trac records for sets, biology, sterilization and workflow.
• Perform other duties as assigned and support department leadership.
