Job summary

UofL Health is seeking personnel for the Decontamination, Sterilization and Sterile Storage area within the hospital. The role supports efficient instrument processing and delivery to patient care areas.

Responsibilities include cleaning, assembling, sterilizing, and ensuring instrument integrity according to AAMI, AORN, and CDC standards, while serving as a preceptor for new staff and maintaining a safe, organized SPD environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with decontamination, sterilization and sterile storage practices.
• Maintains instrument inventory and prepares items for procedures.
• Adheres to AAMI, AORN, and CDC guidelines for processing surgical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Answers calls and delivers supplies and instruments as needed.
• Assembles supplies and carts for procedures and ensures sterility.
• Performs cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly and packaging of instruments.
• Operates processing equipment and monitors sterilization processes.
• Acts as a preceptor for new employees and maintains department organization and safety.
