Job summary

New Prairie Solar in Urbana, IL is seeking an entry level solar technician to join our growing team. The successful applicant will participate in residential and commercial solar system installations, as well as operations and maintenance for existing solar energy systems. New Prairie supports employees with continuing education, OSHA and NABCEP certification programs.

This is a full-time position based in Urbana, IL. Hourly rate based on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have a valid driver's license and insurance.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and work on rooftops.
• Team player and able to work in diverse environments.
• Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Experience with home improvement tools is a plus.
• Basic electrical knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with team lead and experienced installers to complete projects.
• Maintain a safe jobsite at all times.
• Run conduit and wiring for DC electrical systems and data.
• Install, service and maintain solar panels and components.
• Create a clean, well-organized jobsite.

We are seeking an entry level solar technician to join our growing team. New Prairie Solar is the premier solar design and installation company in central Illinois. The successful applicant will participate in residential and commercial solar system installations, as well as operations and maintenance for existing solar energy systems. New Prairie supports employees with continuing education, OSHA and NABCEP certification programs.

This is a full-time position based in Urbana, IL. Hourly rate based on experience. New Prairie Solar offers paid vacation, holidays, premium health/dental/vision insurance and retirement plan.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with team lead and experienced installers to complete projects.
• Maintain a safe jobsite at all times.
• Run conduit and wiring for DC electric and data.
• Install, service and maintain solar panels and components.
• Create a clean, well-organized jobsite.

Requirements:

• Ability to work as a team player in a diverse work environment.
• Capacity to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Capability to work on rooftops and climb ladders/scaffolding.
• Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work in attics and crawlspaces.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
• Basic knowledge of home improvement and tool usage.

Preferred Experience/Certification:

• Basic electrical experience, and/or at least 1 year experience in Solar/Electrical/Construction related field
