Job summary

Vertex LLC, a V2X company, seeks a Software Engineer I to join our Modernization and Sustainment (M&S) Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN, supporting software development and integration of advanced systems for DoD programs.

As an entry-level engineer, you’ll write and test code, fix bugs, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with teammates to maintain and enhance software, while building skills, documentation, and experience in a defense-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 0–2+ years in software development or related engineering.
• Strong fundamentals in C/C++, Java, and Python.
• Familiarity with Linux, Android, RTOS, or Windows OS.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Write and test code on a development team.
• Fix bugs and participate in code reviews.
• Maintain and improve existing software systems.
• Assist in design of small features and document workflows.
• Collaborate using version control and issue tracking.
