Job summary

MRIGlobal in Gaithersburg, Maryland is seeking an entry-level Assistant Scientist, Biologist to join the Integrated Health, Surveillance, and Diagnostics Sample Analysis group. The role focuses on sample preparation, tracking, and analysis while gaining exposure to QA/Safety/SOPs and instrumentation.

Under supervision, you will perform microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology experiments, process environmental samples for potential biological threats, and enter data into LIMS.

Qualifications

• B.S. or B.A. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
• Knowledge and/or experience in a laboratory environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
• PC skills and ability to learn new software and systems.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks and laboratory experimentation under supervision using established SOPs.
• Process and analyze environmental samples for potential biological threats.
• Assist with sample in-processing, DNA prep, immunoassay and PCR analyses, data entry, and general housekeeping.
