Job summary

MCPS is seeking an entry-level School Meals Helper to assist in the production and serving of meals in a school cafeteria. Under supervision, you will learn basic food production and cafeteria operations while supporting staff and students.

The role includes handling food items, maintaining clean kitchen facilities, and following safety and sanitation procedures. Prior experience is not required as on-the-job training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Completion of the ninth grade required.
• High School or GED diploma preferred.
• Sanitation certification required or obtain this certification during the first six months of employment.
• Certificate License: Valid Class C noncommercial driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine duties involved in the production and serving of food and in cleaning kitchen facilities and equipment.
• Receive and prepare menu items, ingredients and supplies as needed.
• Follow HACCP guidelines for safe food handling from receiving to service and ensure proper sanitation of all kitchen areas.
