Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an entry-level Engineer/Engineering Technologist Associate SG6 to support SCADA/RTU configurations and project work under supervision. The role emphasizes safe, economical execution and developing skills in RPA, alarm settings, and drawings interpretation.

New graduates with ABET or equivalent credentials are encouraged to apply; PE licensing is a plus. The position is on-site in New Albany, OH or Tulsa, OK, offering a robust benefits package and growth path

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering program is preferred for entry-level roles.
Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is encouraged as preparation for licensing.
A PE license is beneficial as a credential.
Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) acceptable with additional credentials.
Advanced degrees (MS/PhD) from ABET-accredited programs strengthen candidacy.
VP or above may waive ABET requirements for some candidates.

Responsibilities

Identify process and tool issues and propose solutions; contribute to complex RPA and RTU configurations.
Complete RPA and RTU work with limited supervision; support legacy and new systems including SCADA issues.
Configure alarm and I/O settings for greenfield and brownfield projects with limited guidance.
Assist higher-level engineers with SCADA compliance tasks.
Read electrical drawings and schematics used across disciplines.
