Job summary

American Structurepoint in Akron, OH is seeking an entry-level Staff Engineer to join the Road Engineering Group. You will support the design and layout of roadway alignments, assist with construction plan sets, and contribute to transportation projects for state and local agencies.

You'll gain hands-on experience with ORD/MicroStation, perform quantity calculations, and collaborate with senior engineers on real-world projects from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• Recent or soon-to-be graduate with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering
• 0–4 years of relevant experience, such as internships, co-ops, academic projects, or entry-level engineering roles

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and layout of roadway alignments, both horizontal and vertical, for real-world transportation projects
• Get involved in key aspects of roadway design, including geometry, drainage, signage, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic
• Help develop construction plan sets, gaining experience in how projects are prepared for bidding and construction
• Perform quantity calculations to support bid plan development and construction cost estimates
• Explore additional areas like pavement analysis, design, and utility coordination for a well-rounded experience
• Take on a variety of project support tasks, learning how transportation engineering projects come to life from concept to construction
