The role focuses on roadway design from preliminary to final design, using CAD tools and working with senior engineers on transportation projects.

Salary range is $65,000–$85,000 per year, depending on experience and regional market standards. This full-time position offers growth, mentorship, and exposure to municipal and DOT projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 1+ years of roadway design experience.
• Experience with Municipal or State DOTs preferred.
• EIT certification encouraged; MicroStation/GEOPAK/OpenRoads helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform roadway engineering design tasks from preliminary to final design.
• Provide design services for traditional and design-build projects.
• Use CAD software to prepare detailed roadway drawings and plans.
• Assist in construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure project progress and communication.

ENTRY LEVEL ROADWAY ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform roadway engineering design tasks for transportation projects from preliminary to final design.
• Provide engineering design services for traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build transportation projects.
• Utilize CAD software to prepare detailed engineering drawings and plans for roadway projects.
• Assist in the preparation of construction documents, including specifications and cost estimates, to facilitate the implementation of roadway projects.
• Work with senior engineers and other team members to ensure effective communication, coordination, and progress of roadway projects.
• Stay updated on relevant transportation engineering codes, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.

ENTRY LEVEL ROADWAY ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

• Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 1+ years of roadway design experience.
  • Experience working with Municipal or State DOTs.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • EIT Certification.
  • MicroStation, GEOPAK or OpenRoads software experience.
• Core Skills:
  • Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency.
  • Ability to react quickly and calmly to high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively in team settings.
  • Ability to meet all safety requirements if/when visiting a project site.
