Job summary

Fairwinds Technologies is seeking an entry-level Test Engineer to help verify xG and mixed-signal products through hands-on lab work, test automation, and data analysis. You will plan tests, configure equipment, collect evidence, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to customer demonstrations and field support.

The role spans internal development and customer-funded research, requiring collaboration with RF, DSP, FPGA, embedded software, and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer/Systems Engineering or closely related field, completed or expected before start date.
• Experience with test, measurement, troubleshooting, data analysis, or technical documentation through coursework, internship, capstone, research, or projects.
• Foundational understanding of the engineering test lifecycle and how to report results.
• Basic experience with laboratory instruments, software tools, or data analysis to investigate behavior.
• Ability to follow controlled procedures, ask questions, and document observations accurately.
• Ability to organize test evidence and communicate conclusions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Translate product, system, interface, and customer requirements into test objectives, methods, and acceptance criteria.
• Develop and maintain test plans, cases, procedures, data sheets, and test reports.
• Configure and operate lab equipment, radios, network devices, embedded systems, and test environments.
• Execute functional, performance, interoperability, regression, and environmental tests per procedures.
• Collect, visualize, and analyze test data for metrics like signal quality, frequency response, gain, and latency.
• Create scripts to automate equipment control and data collection.
• Document anomalies, reproduce failures, and support root-cause investigations.
• Coordinate readiness, calibration, baselines, and configuration records.
• Participate in lab and field testing, customer demonstrations, and reviews.
