Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking an entry-level Pump Tech to support water pump installations and routine mechanical tasks. Overnight travel and outdoor work are required.

You will lift components, operate service trucks, cranes, and pumps while maintaining safety records and project timelines. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, basic mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in all weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Construction site or outdoor industry experience is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Must be mechanically inclined; hydraulic pumps experience is a plus.
• Reliable and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Must be able to stand for 10–12 hour shifts.
• CDL Class A or B is a plus but not required.
• Willingness to travel and be away from home up to 2 weeks at a time.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety and quality procedures to maintain a safe, efficient work environment.
• Lift/move pipe and pump components up to 50 lbs and assist with heavier loads.
• Operate and maintain service trucks, cranes, generators, engines, and pumps as needed.
• Collaborate with crew and work independently to meet project goals and deadlines.
• Maintain records of time, materials, and required paperwork.
• Assist in installation, troubleshooting, and repair of water pumps.
• Load/unload trucks with equipment and materials for smooth operations.
• Transport equipment between sites and set up for jobs.
• Collect and label water samples for analysis.
