Job summary

The City of Arcadia is seeking qualified individuals to join the Police Department Dispatch Unit. Dispatcher I/II perform essential emergency communications, routing calls to appropriate units and maintaining logs.

The role requires strong typing skills, familiarity with CAD systems, and the ability to work under pressure. Dispatcher II adds the PST Dispatcher/Telecommunications certification and two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Typing 35 WPM minimum; submit typing certificate within 12 months.
• Dispatcher/Telecommunications certification required for Dispatcher II.
• Dispatcher II requires two years of related public safety dispatch experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls for service for emergency and non-emergency needs.
• Input and update information in CAD system and maintain logs.
• Coordinate dispatch of units and relay information to responding personnel.
• Operate communications equipment including radio, telephones, and alarm monitoring.
