Job summary

BUNNELL LAMMONS ENGINEERING is seeking an entry-level Project Engineering Technician to support the CQA program for earthwork and civil projects across the Southeast. You will perform field testing, observations, and detailed documentation under supervision to ensure grading, embankment, and geosynthetic installations meet specs and regulations.

The role requires strong communication, willingness to travel (50-90%), and the ability to work outside in varied terrain.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience in CQA, soil testing, construction inspection, or related work.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in drive cylinder moisture and density testing and undisturbed Shelby tube sampling within 3 months of hire.
• Must pass ICC certifications within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-place soil moisture and density testing using drive cylinder and other field procedures.
• Conduct undisturbed Shelby tube sampling and prepare samples for lab testing.
• Support senior technicians during geosynthetics deployment observation activities.
• Observe and document installation of geosynthetic materials in earthwork and containment systems.
• Monitor and document soil placement, compaction, grading, and protective cover installation.
• Produce detailed daily field reports with test data and observations.
• Communicate with project engineers, field leads, and construction personnel.
• Follow safety standards and project QA protocols; travel full-time to Southeast project sites.
