Job summary

Butte County Probation Department seeks Deputy Probation Officer I for entry-level peace officer duties in community and juvenile corrections. Under supervision, you will help supervise probationers, conduct investigations, and prepare court reports to support decisions.

As you gain experience, you may advance to II or III levels with increased responsibility, independent judgment, and enhanced rehabilitative services for youth and adults.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
• Two years of public-facing experience with records and diverse backgrounds.
• CORE training and CPR/First Aid within first year.

Responsibilities

• Perform case management and supervise probationers.
• Prepare court reports and provide sentencing recommendations.
• Interviews probationers and assesses risks and needs.
• Coordinate transports and supervise youth in juvenile detention.
