The Kirkland Police Department is seeking entry level Police Officers to join our team and serve the City of Kirkland and its residents. Officers patrol, respond to incidents, and engage in community policing with integrity and professionalism.

Starting Officers require no prior police experience, and must possess a valid Washington driver's license, physical fitness, and the ability to perform arrests or restraints when necessary.

Qualifications

• Starting Officer: No previous Police experience necessary.
• Must have a valid Washington Driver's License and be insurable under the City's plan.
• Must be able to move objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Must be able to operate a passenger vehicle and exit quickly to affect an arrest.
• Must have the ability to restrain a hostile prisoner when required.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
• Must know City of Kirkland laws and work ethically with the public.

Responsabilités

• Patrol assigned areas by car, and occasionally on foot, bicycle or motorcycle.
• Conduct preliminary and follow-up investigations and testify in court.
• Enforce traffic laws, observe movements, issue citations, and direct traffic.
• Investigate traffic accidents and determine possible causes.
• Respond to a wide variety of calls and complaints, including misdemeanors and felonies.
• Maintain security in the jail area and transport prisoners to court or facilities.
