Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree or equivalent preferred).
• Entry level classification; no specific experience required with a 12-month probationary period.
• Must be a licensed Michigan Police Officer, or eligible for MCOLES licensing.
• State of Michigan Vehicle Operator's License and satisfactory driving record; maintain it.
• Other requirements as specified by collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

• Provide for public safety by maintaining order and responding to emergencies.
• Enforce laws, ordinances, and traffic regulations; patrol assigned area to prevent crime.
• Arrest violators and may participate in specialized police activities or investigations.
• Communicate with the public in person and on the radio; travel to different locations as needed.
