Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a General Maintenance helper to assist with routine tasks at our worksite and learn the fundamentals of maintenance under supervision.

You will perform inspections, lubrication, and basic component replacements while keeping maintenance logs and following MSHA/OSHA safety protocols. A High School diploma or GED and willingness to learn are required for this entry-level role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience in maintenance, preferably with heavy equipment.
• Basic understanding of workplace safety and ability to follow safety procedures.
• Willingness to learn mechanical and maintenance fundamentals.
• Knowledge of using a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to prevent component failures.
• Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
• Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts (such as crusher liners and shaker screens) using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
• Strictly adhere to MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and OSHA regulations, execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and maintain a hazard-free work area.
• Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.
