Job summary

Cone Health in North Carolina seeks an entry-level Professional Physician Coder to accurately code professional services using ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS, and to access records across physician billing systems.

You will collaborate with clinicians and the Central Business Office to support compliant coding and timely reimbursements while protecting patient information. Prior coding experience is helpful; a high school diploma and basic computer skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Entry-level physician coding experience in professional or physician practice coding.
• Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Medical terminology.
• Computer/typing literacy is required.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and code physician services using ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS classifications.
• Assist Central Business Office to maximize reimbursement (insurance denials).
• Communicate with physicians, physician extenders, offices, coding team and manager.
• Notify Lead/Manager/Compliance of any compliance violations found during reviews.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance per organizational policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
