Job summary

Capital Area Pediatrics in Oakton/Vienna is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA). This entry-level role supports pediatric providers and clinical staff, delivering compassionate patient care while gaining hands-on experience in a busy clinic.

The position requires evening hours and some weekend time; new hire orientation is included. Candidates should have a high school diploma and a willingness to pursue healthcare studies; prior patient service is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Enrollment in a healthcare-related degree program is strongly preferred.
• Previous patient experience or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to meet Capital Area Pediatrics’ immunization and health screening requirements.
• Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and families while creating a positive, caring experience.
• Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain histories, measure vital signs, and accurately document information within the electronic medical record.
• Assist with patient check-in and check-out, including scheduling appointments and verifying demographic and insurance information as needed.
• Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain examination rooms and clinical equipment while following infection prevention and sterilization procedures.
• Maintain patient records and protected health information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
• Support daily practice operations through administrative projects and other duties as assigned.
