We are currently seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our Herndon, VA team. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Whether you are exploring nursing, medicine, physician assistant studies, or another healthcare profession, this position provides valuable hands‑on experience while working alongside experienced pediatric providers and clinical staff.

Work Schedule: Monday & Tuesday 12:30PM-5:00PM, Thursday 8:30AM-12:30PM, Sunday 8:30AM-12:45PM

All new employees are required to attend New Hire Orientation, which takes place during the first week of employment on Monday & Tuesday | 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.

  • Welcome patients and families while creating a positive, caring experience.
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain patient histories, measure vital signs, and accurately document information within the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out, including scheduling appointments and verifying demographic and insurance information as needed.
  • Prepare, clean, stock, and maintain examination rooms and clinical equipment while following infection prevention and sterilization procedures.
  • Maintain patient records and protected health information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, families, providers, and coworkers.
  • Support daily practice operations through administrative projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. At this time we are not accepting high school students.
  • Enrollment in a healthcare‑related degree program is strongly preferred.
  • Previous patient experience/customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to meet Capital Area Pediatrics' immunization and health screening requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines is preferred.
