Job summary

Hopkins Ford in Elgin, IL is seeking an Automotive Technician to perform preventive maintenance and repairs, acting as a trusted advisor to customers and ensuring vehicles are serviced and safe on the road. You'll document work, use diagnostic tools, change oil and filters, inspect fluids, tires, and systems, and collaborate with the parts department to obtain needed parts.

Responsibilities

  • Document and perform work as outlined on repair order following all dealership and factory standards.
  • Drain oil from crankcase and refill; replace oil and air filters.
  • Inspect vehicle fluid levels and replace or replenish as necessary.
  • Check tire pressure and add air if needed.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain accountability for dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Test-drive vehicles and diagnose components/systems with diagnostic tools.
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, brakes, A/C.
  • Communicate with Service Advisor to inform customers of additional services.
  • Provide an estimate of time for additional repairs.
  • Execute repairs under warranty to manufacturer specs.

  • Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers are well-informed of any additional services needed
  • Provide an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
  • Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
