Job summary

Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito & Vector Control District is seeking a Field Technician I/II to perform inspections, surveillance and vector control operations in assigned crews within the Control Operations Department. Duties include surveys, property inspections, data entry, and public outreach on vector ecology.

The role requires knowledge of vector control, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Entry-level technicians may advance to Technician II after two years and required certifications

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Advancement to Field Technician II requires 2 years as Field Technician I and certifications A-D.
• Must obtain Mosquito Control Technician Certifications within 2 years of employment and maintain while employed.

Responsibilities

• Perform surveys of zones for breeding sources and environmental conditions.
• Conduct inspections of properties and respond to service requests; use appropriate equipment per protocol.
• Communicate findings to property owners and provide education on source reduction; refer complex issues to supervisors.
