Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Mechanical/Energy engineer to contribute from early 2027 in Chattanooga, TN. The role involves applying thermodynamics, heat transfer, and power plant concepts to sized equipment and client-ready analyses.

You will work with project teams on system design, documentation, and optimization, with potential travel for reviews and on-site verification as needed.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, General Engineering, or Systems Engieering with strong academic background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, power engineering, turbomachinery, thermal systems, and energy conversion.
• Knowledge of practical application of mechanical engineering and technology to project design.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, fabrication drawings, and models.
• Strong interest in numerical computations and problem solving.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power plant engineering to client projects.
• Prepare calculations, specifications, and technical reports; size equipment and optimize designs as needed.
• Support project teams in mechanical systems design, modification, and analysis.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and site verification when required.
