Job summary

Barry‑Wehmiller’s Design Group in Alpharetta seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to deliver mechanical facility systems for industrial projects. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team, perform sizing and analysis, and produce design documents using Revit and AutoCAD while supporting projects from initial concept to startup.

You have a BS in Mechanical Engineering (ABET‑accredited), a minimum of 3 years’ experience, and an EIT certification.

Qualifications

  • ABET‑accredited B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 3+ years mechanical facility design experience including system analysis, sizing, design and reports.
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical design documentation.
  • Ability to travel for project requirements (client sites, installations, start‑ups).
  • Experience designing HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, compressed gas, steam, condensate systems for industrial facilities.
  • Experience with advanced technology, semiconductor, life sciences, cleanroom, cold room, or warm room projects.
  • Experience executing mechanical design work as part of multidisciplinary capital projects.

  • Perform system analysis, sizing, calculations, and equipment selection for industrial applications.
  • Develop mechanical design documents and models using Revit; prepare technical reports and drawings.

  • Coordinate design requirements with clients, project partners, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Review project documentation for consistency, accuracy, and constructability.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll support the design and delivery of mechanical building and utility systems for industrial capital projects. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop coordinated solutions for custom manufacturing, advanced technology, and life sciences facilities. This position plays an important role in helping clients improve facility performance, reliability, and operational readiness. You’ll gain hands-on experience in system analysis, sizing, design documentation, and project execution while continuing to build your technical expertise.

  • Design mechanical facility systems, including HVAC, water, chilled water, wastewater, steam, hot water, compressed air, and plumbing systems
  • Perform mechanical system analysis, sizing, calculations, and equipment selection for custom industrial applications
  • Develop coordinated mechanical design documents and system models using Revit
  • Prepare technical reports, design narratives, drawings, and specifications that support project delivery
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, process, architectural, and construction team members on multidisciplinary projects
  • Coordinate mechanical design requirements with clients, project partners, and other engineering disciplines
  • Review project documentation and design information for consistency, accuracy, and constructability
  • Support multiple project assignments while meeting quality, schedule, and client requirements
  • Apply applicable codes, engineering standards, and Design Group practices to mechanical system designs
  • Support client‑site activities, including field assessments, installation, start‑up meetings, and training, as required
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
  • At least three years of mechanical facility design engineering experience, including system analysis, sizing, design, and technical report writing
  • Engineer-in-Training certification
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for mechanical design documentation
  • Ability to travel for project requirements, including client‑site activities, installation and start‑up support, meetings, training, seminars, forums, and conventions
  • Experience designing HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, compressed gas, steam, condensate, or related utility systems for industrial facilities
  • Experience supporting advanced technology, semiconductor, life sciences, clean room, cold room, or warm room projects
  • Experience executing mechanical design work as part of multidisciplinary capital projects
Compensation

The approximate pay range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as geographic location of the position.
