Job summary

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking entry level Mechanical Designers to contribute to drawing development and standard/tool improvement. You will work with CAD tools to create and revise 3D models and drawings, supporting project success while growing technical expertise.

Qualifications

• Associate/Bachelor’s in CAD/design or HS diploma with relevant coursework/experience.
• Must be legally authorized to work without requiring sponsorship for employment to begin or continue employment with our company.
• Proficient in computer-aided drafting programs (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SmartPlant) with entry to intermediate AutoCAD skills, and basic knowledge of current operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop 3D models and maintain plan, diagram, and detail drawings using sketches and design skills, navigating models for interferences and constructability
• Resolve comments on checked drawings, implement feedback, and complete as-builts by integrating RFIs, ECNs, and red-marked construction drawings as required
• Gather and organize information for drawing development, create comprehensive check packages, and ensure all work aligns with Kiewit’s design and quality standards, as well as applicable codes
• Perform assignments efficiently, manage various tasks including rework, and meet schedule deadlines while keeping Lead Designer informed of progress and any deviations from standards
• Conduct personal quality checks within a team environment, reviewing design for consistency, safety, operability, and maintenance before submission
• Demonstrate basic understanding of piping layouts and field drawings
• Participate in meetings (e.g., Weekly Project Meetings), proactively seek new knowledge and skills, and actively apply feedback
