Job summary

Extreme Networks, Inc. is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to support production of networking hardware on the Manufacturing & Test Engineering team.

Under guidance, you will perform DFM reviews, help with NPI builds, create process documentation, and contribute to yield, quality, and cost improvements on the production line. This entry‑level role offers hands‑on experience on SMT/PTH/BGA processes, data analysis, and continuous improvement using Lean and Six Sigma tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience including internships, co-ops, or capstone projects.
• Experience with electronic assembly: SMT, PTH, BGA, and mechanical assembly.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools, with Excel required; Power BI, Minitab, JMP, or Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support DFM, DFA, and DFx reviews for new networking hardware under guidance of senior engineers.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation (work instructions, routings, BOMs, PFMEAs, control plans).
• Participate in NPI builds (EVT/DVT/PVT) at CM sites and labs; collect build data and support resolutions.
• Assist with process qualification for SMT, PTH, BGA, conformal coating, mechanical assembly, and box‑build operations.
• Analyze production data (yield, scrap, defect Pareto, cycle time) and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support root‑cause analysis and 8D problem solving; track corrective actions.
• Help manage ECO and MCO changes with planning, supply chain, CM partners.
• Assist with first‑article inspections, in‑process audits, and supplier process audits at ODM sites.
• Contribute to Lean and Six Sigma tools (5S, Kaizen, value‑stream mapping, SPC).
• Define and qualify tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids; track project‑level capital spend.
• Maintain a clean, safe, ESD‑controlled environment and follow lab/production safety procedures.
