Job summary

Altec in St. Joseph, MO is seeking Manufacturing/Apps Engineers at entry level/new grad to join a lean manufacturing environment. You will support manufacturing, assist new product development, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.

The role requires completion of an ABET-certified engineering degree and strong communication skills, with travel up to 25% as needed. Prior Altec exposure is a plus;join a historic, global equipment leader.

Qualifications

• ABET EAC-certified engineering degree required.
• Majors preferred: Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural, or Aerospace Engineering.
• Degree must be completed prior to start date.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with a team and with minimal supervision.
• Willing to travel up to 25% with short notice possible.
• Prior interaction with Altec at recruitment events or past intern/coop with Altec preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure manufacturing builds product per current engineering documentation.
• Review component designs for design-for-manufacturability.
• Monitor costs, manpower efficiency, machine capability and space usage; recommend revisions.
• Lead continuous improvement in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Productivity.
• Lead integration of new designs into Manufacturing.
• Drive capital project implementation.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing and service teams.
• Operate with some decision-making latitude within assignment scope.
• Apply fundamental engineering concepts and procedures.
• Support Operations, Sales and Service teams.
• Interface with Suppliers and Customers.
• Utilize Lean principles to improve products and processes.
• Possibly manage various project sizes or act as Team Lead.
