Job summary

JLL is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Assistant in Hampton, VA to support operation, inspection, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on-site. This role offers growth toward Journeyman licensure and is part of a small engineering team at a 500,000 square foot facility.

Typically, the day includes CMMS work orders, equipment checks, and collaboration with engineers to troubleshoot and repair systems.

Qualifications

• Ability to climb ladders up to 20 feet.
• Ability to operate scissor lifts up to 20 feet.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in mechanical and electrical rooms, outdoors, and on varied elevations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of building systems for proper operation, tests, rounds, and data analysis to ensure peak campus functionality.
• Monitor the operation of mechanical/electrical equipment to support work for assembly, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair.
• Collaborate with Engineers to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Learn to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to plan tasks and interact with clients and staff.
• Complete work orders in CMMS, documenting labor and repair details.
• Support replacement of lamps, ballasts, breakers, and other components with training from experienced staff.
• Provide support to external personnel and participate in ongoing training programs.
• Assist in preparedness for emergencies and daily operations.
