- Monday–Friday
- Typical start time: 7:00 AM
- 8–9 hours per day
- Some flexibility with the start time may be considered based on operational needs
- Some Saturdays may be required
- Typical workday ends around 3:00–4:00 PM, depending on start time and operational needs
- Pay is based on experience and qualifications
- Willing to train the right person who has mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn
About Select Genetics
Select Genetics is a leading supplier of quality turkey poults to growers and companies across the United States and internationally. We are looking for a Mechanic to join our team and help keep our delivery equipment safe, reliable, and ready for operation.
What You'll Do
As a Mechanic, you will help maintain Select Genetics' trucks, trailers, and other delivery equipment. Responsibilities include:
- Perform pre-trip inspections and identify safety concerns or equipment defects
- Operate company equipment within the yard, wash bay, and maintenance shop
- Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on trucks and trailers
- Use hand tools and basic mechanical equipment
- Maintain an organized inventory of parts and supplies
- Report equipment problems, safety concerns, or needed repairs to your supervisor
- Follow all company safety, biosecurity, and operational procedures
- Complete required company training for operating equipment on company property
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude while working with coworkers and supervisors
- Work as part of a team to keep equipment and operations running efficiently
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience with hand tools or mechanical work preferred
- Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and repairs is a plus
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to recognize equipment problems and communicate them to a supervisor
- Must follow company safety and biosecurity procedures
- Must not own or operate around backyard poultry operations outside of work due to biosecurity requirements
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, bend, squat, reach, grasp, push, and pull for extended periods
- Perform limited climbing
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for short distances
- Work in a maintenance shop, wash bay, and outdoor yard environment
