Job summary

Dunbarton Corporation is seeking an Entry Level Machinist to join our team in Dothan, AL. You will build and repair dies used to fabricate frames and doors, operate grinders, lathes, milling machines, and EDM, and read blueprints.

The role requires an associates degree or CNC certification or hands-on experience as Tool & Die Maker or Machinist, and you will train others while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or certification in manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering technology, CNC programming or CNC machining.
  • Experience with tool & die or machinist roles is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Dunbarton Corporation is seeking an Entry Level Machinist to join our team who is responsible for building and repairing dies used to fabricate all frames and doors.

Essential Job Functions
  • Operate all grinders, lathes, milling machines, and EDM
  • Read and fully interpret blueprints
  • Order various tools and parts
  • Operate precision measuring tools to calculate very close tolerance
  • Operate all assigned Tool and Die equipment at the pace required by department management
  • Train new employees on all job duties
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment
  • Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Complete all assigned paperwork and/or computer entries accurately and on time
  • Adheres to work schedule and attendance requirements, including regular on-site attendance at Dunbarton facilities and nights and weekends as required; regular on-site presence is an essential function of this position
  • Performs other work as directed and required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of tool and die design, construction, repair, and modification from metal fabrication processes
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, specifications, and geometric tolerancing
  • Knowledge of CNC and conventional machining processes, tooling, and metalworking equipment
  • Knowledge of metals and alloys, including material properties, hardness, and heat tolerances
  • Skill in interpreting and applying engineering drawings and specifications to tooling and die fabrication
  • Skill in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC and conventional machine tools
  • Skill in using precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances
  • Skill in assembling, fitting, adjusting, and repairing dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling
  • Skill in using CAD software to create tooling designs and production-ready documentation
  • Ability to analyze specifications and visualize tooling designs and finished components
  • Ability to ensure tooling and products meet quality, safety, and production requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, maintenance, and production teams
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns

Requirements

  • Associates degree or certification from an accredited college, university, or trade school with a major in manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering technology, CNC programing or CNC machining

OR

  • Experience as a Tool & Die Maker or Machinist
