Job summary

SSI Foods is seeking a sanitation associate to clean production areas and equipment, following chemical safety procedures. The role involves rotating across multiple areas, performing repetitive tasks, and maintaining clean, safe workspaces on the production floor.

The position requires ability to lift up to 50–60 pounds, work in cooler environments, and follow SSI safety and compliance guidelines. Training on chemical handling is provided, with opportunities to contribute to a safe working

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned plant areas and equipment using dry pickup, hot water and chemicals following safe procedures for each chemical and task.
• Lock out equipment following SSI lock-out procedures prior to beginning any equipment cleaning.
• Communicates any equipment damage or issues to supervisor.
• Participates in chemical training and follows guidelines, rules, and regulations regarding specific chemicals.
• Complies with all SSI, federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Rotate between multiple areas within the production floor and perform repetitive tasks.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Duties/Responsibilities

The Sanitor will clean assigned plant areas and equipment using a combination of dry pickup, hot water and chemicals always following the safe procedures for each chemical and task.

• Using a combination of chemicals, water, and cleaning tools the sanitor will clean floors, walls, ceilings, and equipment as assigned
• Will lock out equipment following SSI Lock-out procedures prior to beginning any equipment cleaning
• Communicates any equipment damage or issues to supervisor
• Participates in chemical training and strictly follows guidelines, rules, and regulations regarding specific chemicals
• Complies with all SSI, federal, state, and local regulations, guidelines, and policies
• Performs other duties as assigned

AND/OR

This position will rotate between multiple areas within the production floor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Complete repetitive tasks for the job

Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area

Perform other related duties as assigned

Block Handler

Move boxes/cases from the pallet to the microwave infeed belt

Frequently cut straps and tape from pallets or boxes and dispose of trash accordingly

Remove liner and push the block into position to feed grinder

Stacker

Occasionally sort patties to avoid jams and pile up

Visually inspect and grab stacks of patties

Properly align stacks within the boxes until appropriately filled

Scaler

Check and adjust box weights as needed

Ensure plastic liners completely and securely cover product prior to taping

May conduct box count checks

Utility

Conduct a safety inspection on pallet jack prior to use according to guidelines

Transport products and trash to and from various locations within the production floor

Pick up and clean meat off from the floor

Manage pallets and other supplies in specified areas

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to work in and around equipment.
• Ability to read at a basic level to understand risks on SDS or chemical labels.

Physical Requirements

• Regular periods of standing and walking in a cooler environment (35 to 45 degrees F)
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Ability to work in a cold and hot wet environment.
• Ability to move in, around and under equipment.

Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.

Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds at a time.

Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
