Job summary

The City of Greeley is hiring an entry-level Irrigation Technician I to support downtown public spaces with irrigation and landscape maintenance. The role involves installing and repairing irrigation systems, maintaining public areas, and assisting with events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in irrigation, landscaping, grounds maintenance, construction, public works, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
• Ability to obtain Flagger and/or Work Zone Traffic Control Certification within six (6) months of hire.
• Ability to participate in an on-call schedule and work evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency assignments as operational needs require.
• Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains irrigation systems, including controllers, valves, sprinkler heads, piping, and related components.
• Performs landscape and public-space maintenance, including planting, mowing, watering, pruning, weed control, paver installation, and maintenance of benches, trash receptacles, and other amenities.
• Performs general cleaning, upkeep, and minor repairs of public spaces, facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
• Operates light and heavy equipment, vehicles, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment used in irrigation, landscape, and public-space maintenance.
• Performs routine maintenance and safety inspections of irrigation systems, equipment, facilities, and public-space infrastructure and identifies needed repairs.
