Job summary

Kirby Inland Marine Lp is seeking an Inland Deckhand to support the vessel master in safe and efficient operation. You will handle lines, perform maintenance, and assist with duties on inland pushboats and barges on a 2-for-1 schedule up to 30 days per hitch.

Qualifications include a TWIC card, a valid driver's license, USCG medical/physical requirements, and the ability to read and understand orders in English.

Qualifications

• TWIC card required before applying.
• Valid driver's license.
• No DWI or DUI in the last three years.
• No more than 2 moving driving violations in the last 3 years.
• Must be able to satisfy USCG physical requirements (CG-719K) and 46 CFR Part 10.
• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to understand written and verbal orders.

Responsibilities

• Attach and remove lines and cables to and from the vessel, barges, docks and locks.
• Handle lines 4 to 8 times during loading and discharging to adjust for height differences.
• Maintain vessel by performing scheduled maintenance and housekeeping.
• Make minor repairs using basic tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the vessel master (e.g., cooking, cleaning)
