Qualifications

• 0-1+ years of related IT, help desk, SOC, or similar technical experience.
• Associate's Degree
• Entry-level security certifications (e.g., Security+, SSCP, SEC1, or CJCA) preferred; pass one of the above certifications within 12 months in role.
• Systems Security Certified Practitioner

Responsibilities

• Monitors security alerts and events, performs initial triage, and documents findings according to standard operating procedures.
• Conducts basic SIEM log review to identify anomalies and escalates potential incidents to senior analysts.
• Executes assigned identity hygiene tasks, such as running AD hygiene reports, privileged access reviews, or MFA coverage checks under guidance.
• Supports incident response activities with data collection, ticket updates, and evidence preservation as directed.
• Maintains accurate documentation, runbooks, and case notes for investigations, alerts, and routine tasks.
• Collaborates with IT and service desk staff to resolve simple security-related requests or remediation actions.
• Executes predefined monitoring and investigation tasks; escalates suspicious or ambiguous activity to Analyst II or the Information Security Manager.
• Operates within defined decision rights; does not own enterprise metrics or make independent risk-acceptance decisions.
