Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a skilled plumber to layout, install, maintain, and repair piping systems for mechanical utility piping, chillers, and related equipment in diverse facilities. The role requires reading system prints, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders or lifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Modifies length of pipes, fixtures and other plumbing materials as needed.
• Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
• Installs heating and air‑conditioning systems, including water heaters.
• Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters and steamfitters.
• Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
• Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
• Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.

Job Description Summary

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Under general supervision, layout, design, install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, test and repair pipes and fittings of mechanical utility piping systems, including chillers that encompass hot water, chilled water, steam, compressed air, sewer, chemicals, fuel oil, gases, and other related systems following local and state codes. Read and understand system prints and schematics. In this role, you will be required to move and work in confined spaces, up and down ladders, and work from ladders, scaffolding and aerial lift platforms.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Installs & repairs pipes, fixtures, and valves for water, gas, steam and air systems.
• Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
• Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
• Modifies length of pipes, fixtures and other plumbing materials as needed.
• Uses saws and pipe cutters as necessary.
• Installs heating and air‑conditioning systems, including water heaters.
• Collaborates with contractors, construction workers, electricians, pipefitters and steamfitters in installing and repairing plumbing systems.
• Performs inspections of plumbing systems to identify and replace worn parts.
• Tests plumbing systems for leaks and other problems.
• Analyzes problems and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
• Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
• Works at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts.
• Operates fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Orders materials and parts for job execution.
• Uses the current CMMS work order system to process and complete job assignments.
• Accesses Building Management System to review HVAC systems and make changes if needed.
• Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.
• 1‑year basic plumbing work experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Desired Requirements

• 2‑years commercial plumbing work experience.
• Plumbing training certificate from BOCES Votac or equivalent.

Pay & Benefits

The base pay rate is $28.01/hr and will increase on progression ($35.68/hr – $43.89/hr) upon completion of training. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for contractually negotiated general wage increases, COLA increases and a $1/hr night shift bonus.

• The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
