Job summary

The State of Washington's Department of Social and Health Services seeks a Human Resource Consultant 1 to support employees, supervisors and managers with HR services, onboarding, benefits and leave inquiries. This entry-level role provides essential HR consultation and transactional services for a 24/7 behavioral health workforce.

You’ll set up new hires in HR and Payroll systems, draft appointment letters, lead New Employee Orientation, and help customers navigate health, retirement and leave

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education may substitute.
• Knowledge of HR laws and policies helpful.
• Experience in customer service and HR guidance desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as first point of contact for managers and employees on HR matters.
• Provide HR services in hiring, benefits, leave, classification, compensation and retention.
• Interpret HR policies and applicable laws for customers.
• Assist with recruitment processes and onboarding.
• Process personnel and payroll actions including appointments and status changes.
• Coordinate New Employee Orientation and HR system setup.
• Support with benefits, retirement and insurance questions.
• Maintain confidential personnel records and generate reports.
