The United States Army Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion is seeking individuals for the position of Horizontal Construction Engineer (12N). In this role, you will operate bulldozers, graders, and other heavy machinery to complete construction projects.
You will undergo extensive training, including Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training, to prepare for a career that provides housing, medical benefits, and opportunities for civilian employment in construction.
Horizontal construction engineers use bulldozers, cranes, graders and other heavy equipment to move tons of earth and material to complete construction projects for the Army.
Applicants must first take the ASVAB, a series of tests that helps identify strengths and suitable Army jobs.
Job training requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training includes classroom instruction and field, on‑the‑job instruction.
General Maintenance (GM): 90
Total compensation includes housing, medical, food, special pay, and vacation time.
Qualified students can earn full‑tuition, merit‑based scholarships, book and fee allowances, and an annual living stipend.
Skills gained prepare candidates for careers with building contractors, state highway agencies, rock quarries, well drillers, and construction firms.
Eligible candidates may enroll in the PaYS program, which offers job interview opportunities with military‑friendly employers.
