Reporting to Project Managers or Senior Project Managers, the Field Engineer will have the opportunity to work on geotechnical engineering projects as well as construction materials testing and inspection projects. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in learning about the many aspects of the geotechnical engineering industry.

Step into Your New Role. Kleinfelder's Houston, Texas office is currently seeking an Entry Level Field Engineer to join the team! We're looking for a person with strong initiative, who will perform routine to complex geotechnical sampling, inspection, and testing in the field, in accordance with the plans and specifications. The field engineer will prepare daily reports and data sheets and may be called upon to perform various tasks at the discretion of the supervisor. Duties include geotechnical sampling and testing, laboratory testing, nuclear moisture density testing, and assisting in proposal writing and technical reports.

Working well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment is essential. Strong communication skills are necessary to succeed in this role.

Role and Responsibilities

• Perform soil and groundwater sampling, soil logging, observations, and testing on materials testing projects to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications.
• Submit daily field reports and data reports summarizing activities.
• Conduct geotechnical laboratory testing (experience is a plus).
• Conduct engineering calculations under the supervision of a professional engineer.
• Maintain objectives, initiatives, and overall goals set by the project manager.

Qualification Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology.
• EIT or GIT certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 0 to 3 years' experience in geotechnical-related engineering field.
• Must have a valid TX Driver's License.

• Texas Department of Transportation Testing Certifications.
